Pages

Pages lets you see a list of pages from your website that Jess has automatically discovered. Click on a page URL to get suggestions to improve the optimization of this page.

Page Recommendations

Page recommendations are created to optimize a particular page for a single keyword. At the top of the screen, you will see the URL of the page you are working on.

If you selected a business type when you set up Jess, you will see a Page Type screen. Selecting a page type will automatically select a Primary Keyword for this page and Jess will generated suggested title tags and meta descriptions for you.

If you don’t have a business type that Jess supports, you won’t see suggested title tags and meta descriptions, but you’ll still get valuable feedback to help you optimize your page by entering a Primary Keyword. Click Update Page to continue.

Overview

If you selected a business type when you set up Jess, you will see industry-specific advice about optimizing pages in on your website.

Keywords

While pages will naturally rank for many keywords, you’ll want to focus on optimizing for just one keyword to start. In Jess, we call this the Primary Keyword.

If you want to see recommendations to optimizing the current URL for a different keyword you are already ranking for, select the radio button and click Update. If you aren’t ranking for any other keywords, Jess will let you know.

Title Tag

In this section, you’ll see if:

  • Your primary keyword is in the title tag
  • Your title tag is within the suggested range of characters

Jess will tell you how to update your title tag if they answer is no either of these questions.

If you selected a business type, you will see a title tag that’s been automatically generated for you that is optimized for your keyword.

Finally, you’ll see a link to watch a tutorial that explains how to construct a title tag.

Meta Description

In this section, you’ll see if:

  • Your primary keyword is in the meta description
  • Your meta description is within the suggested range of characters

Jess will tell you how to update your meta description if they answer is no either of these questions.

If you selected a business type, you will see a meta description that’s been automatically generated for you that is optimized for your keyword.

Finally, you’ll see a link to watch a tutorial that explains how to construct a meta description.

Keyword Tag

You’ll see if you have a keyword tag here. It’s best practice not to have one. Jess will provide additional information if the answer is Yes.

On Page Text

You’ll get feedback from Jess about your:

  • Word count
  • Keyword density

If you selected a business type, you will see a list of words that are often found on websites in your industry. Adding them to your website where appropriate can help you rank for many more keywords.

Finally, you’ll see a link to watch a tutorial that tells you why adding addition content is important and how to do it for your site.

Technical Issues

Jess will help you identify major technical issue. Learn if you website page is

  • Loading
  • Loading quickly (in less than 3 seconds)
  • Loading securely

If the answer is no to any of these questions, Jess will tell you what you need to do to fix these important technical issues.
